La “Masseria Trotta” già “Masseria S. Michele” è situata in agro di Fasano in contrada Giardinelli nella zona precollinare tra la stessa Fasano e la collina di Laureto. La Masseria si sviluppa attorno ad un corpo fabbrica originario su due livelli databile a cavallo del 1600 e del 1700 con successive estensioni ottocentesche ed è riconoscibile per la caratteristica torre laterale che la distingue dalle altre della zona. E’ situata in un verdeggiante uliveto secolare a coltura intensiva integrato con piante di ulivo a basso fusto, in parte pianeggiante e in parte terrazzato con i caratteristici muretti a secco, inframmezzato da boschetti di lecci, alberi di carrubo, alberi da frutto e zone di macchia mediterranea. Giungendo alla masseria si trova un ampio piazzale con aia dove sorge una antica cappella originariamente consacrata a S. Michele e, subito alla destra si trova il corpo fabbrica principale circondato da un caratteristico forno a legna a trullo, giardini ad agrumeto e vecchi ricoveri per animali. Il primo piano era ed attualmente è destinato ad abitazione e il piano terra a frantoio oleario. Nella parte ristrutturata sono stati realizzati due alloggi destinati al Bed and breakfast e nella parte ancora da ristrutturare sono ubicati la vecchia macina in pietra e le nicchie di allaggiamento dei vecchi torchi in legno.

The “Masseria Trotta”, once “Masseria S. Michele”, is located in the Fasano countryside, Giardinelli district, in the area between Fasano and the Laureto hill. The Masseria consists of an original main body of the building on two floors datable between 1600 and 1700 with following XIX century extensions. It is recognizable for the characteristic lateral tower that distinguishes it from the others of the area. It is located in a thriving centuries-old uliveto (olive grove) with intensive cultivation integrated with short-trunked olive trees, partly flat and partly terraced with the typical dry walls. Small wood of holm oaks, carob trees, fruit trees and Mediterranean undergrowth areas are scattered in the uliveto. Reaching the masseria you find a large open square with a threshing floor with an old chapel formerly consecrated to S.Michele. On the right there is the main body of the building surrounded by the typical trullo stone oven, citrus grove gardens and old shelters for animals. The first floor was and is now a house and the ground floor is an olive-mill. In the restored area there are two apartments for the Bed and Breakfast and in the not restored one there are the old millstone and the housing niches of the old wood presses.

Gegen Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts wurde das erste Gebäude des Gutshofes “Masseria Trotta” errichtet. In Folge kamen im 18. Jahrhundert weitere Anbauten sowie seitlich ein Turm dazu, der den gesamten Gebäudekomplex prägt. Die “Masseria Trotta” liegt inmitten eines jahrhundertealten Olivenhaines. Dieser steigt in Terrassen gesäumt von niedrigen Steinmauern bis zum ebenen Platz des Gutshauses an. Zwischen den immergrünen Olivenbäumen deren Blätter im Wind silbrig schimmern, tauchen Gruppen von Eichen, Johannisbrotbäume, Obstbäume und immer wieder mediterrane Sträucher auf. Auf dem großzügig angelegten Vorplatz des Gutshofes findet man einen alten gepflasterten Dreschplatz. Hier wurde früher das Getreide verarbeitet. Daneben steht eine kleine Kapelle, die dem Hl. Michael geweiht ist. Daher stammt der ursprüngliche Name des Gutshofes, nämlich “Masseria San Michele”. Der gemauerte Backofen in Trulloform neben den alte Stallungen wurde instandgesetzt. Und geht man rund um das Gebäude findet man geschützt von Mauern zauberhafte Gärten mit Zitronen-, Mandarinen- und Orangenbäumen. Der erste Stock des Gutshofes diente früher wie jetzt als Wohnung für die Gutsbesitzer. Im Erdgeschoss befanden sich die Räume für die Herstellung des Olivenöls. In einem Raum steht noch die alte Steinmühle und im anderen sieht man die Nischen, in denen die hölzernen Olivenölpressen standen. Ein Teil dieser Räumlichkeiten im Erdgeschoss wurde umgebaut und zwei der Gästeappartements wurden hier eingerichtet.
